A note from Notaro's chef and owner:
I recall my childhood in my mom’s kitchen, always helping her to prepare dinner for the family, chopping tomato and basil, breaking eggs to mix in the flour.

My mom’s passion for her cooking definitely marked my life for the years to come; she always said, “What you cook is who you are”.Twenty years ago after working in different top restaurants in NYC, I finally decided to take my mom’s passion for food into my own business and Notaro Restaurant was born. Year after year, I grew my clientele by focusing on quality, bringing in the freshest products available in the market with only one goal: taking pride in what my mother had taught me through my early years. It’s hard to find a restaurant these days that takes so much care in their cuisine and still makes fresh pastas, breads and desserts on a daily basis. This is my everyday life and is the only way I know. Notaro, through these twelve years in Murray Hill, has proven itself to be a favorite place to dine out, always giving a memorable experience to its customers with a professional and friendly staff that will lift your spirit with a great smile.

The worst service I ever had! Food arrived late, cold and portions were the smallest I have ever seen! Main dish looked like tiny appetizer< they have to be kidding!!!! Not worth the money at all! I am very displeased and annoyed, they ruined my dinner. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

This restaurant has gone downhill. Extremely slow deliveries recently. Over an hour and 20 minutes for a simple order. Too bad, since the food is often good.

Notaro offers a wonderful pre fixe dinner that is the perfect Sunday supper for anyone looking to end the week with a bang. Chicken Parm was very good- not soggy or rubbery like "the other guys". The dessert was kinda small and didn't appear to be home-made, but after two large courses I found the tiramisu to be plenty big and plenty delicious.

Chicken Parm lunch special is my favorite lunch order from any where.

I ordered Four Cheese Penne and received the pasta with burned cheese. I was not happy. Called the restaurant to complain and was told they would pick it up but they didn't even bother to contact me to apologize. Not a good experience.

a little bread would have been nice

Completely bland and lackluster food; the gnocchi alla sorrentina came in thin, almost transparent tomato sauce without a single spec of basal. Fortunately there was a reasonable amount of cheese in the dish.... and the delivery was fast. For the price, it was completely sub-par.

Absolutely delicious gnocchi and lasagna. Gnocchi is light with the perfect texture and tomato sauce is flavorful. Food is consistently tasty and well-prepared. Wish they would offer gnocchi con ragu alla Bolognese, because we know it would be really good.

The penne all'vodka lunch special is NOT vegetarian-friendly. Maybe they considered a freebie throwing a bunch of chicken in on top (instead of green peas), but being a vegetarian, I did not appreciate it. That said, the sauce was OK...just a shame I couldn't eat most of it. For that, they get 2 stars.

Not bad, but not better than Patsy's.

forgot my soda with the order and gave me dry chicken with very little pasta

This is a reliable Italian restaurant with delivery always within the stated timeframe (although usually at the later end), consistently good pasta, and big pasta portions. The spaghetti carbonara is great.

This place is spectacular. I order from here quite a bit and delivery usually takes about 20 minutes. The gnocci is outstanding as well as the tortellini. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced and you will not be disappointed. Notaro's food is worth more than it's priced so eat up!

Awesome - homemade italian food. Tastes like someone slaved over a hot stove for hours for this food. I ordered the lasagna dinner special, which was fantastic. They also slipped in a small portion of some sort of pasta with mushrooms in a pesto cream sauce. I don't know if this was a mistake but enjoyed it and recommended the restaurant to a friend who lives in the area.

People, this is why you live in Manhattan. You will know it when you smell it. I've tried it in Italy and NJ, but there is not better Italian to be found.

Excellent quality food. I have even ordered fish here and been please (delivery fish can be risky). The pre-fixe lunch and dinner are especially good deals. They include a whole meal of generous portions (none of the 3 dollars for a side of bread, and 1.00 for butter stuff). I order from here frequently and always have enough food to make at least a second full meal.

took a long time to deliver, and food wasn't that great

Yum..The chicken parm was delish. Without seeing the restaurant and experiencing the service I can't give 5 stars though.

One of the most underrated Italian places in Murray Hill IMHO. Due to their location (facing the Midtown Tunnel) I guess it's not a "hot spot" but the food is reasonably priced, and very high quality. Prompt delivery, in four orders never had any issues. Will order again often.

Good Italian food - but not a bargain.

Added this restaurant to my rotation a few months back and have not been disappointed. The Chicken Parm is unbelievable.

weak showing, Patsy's 23rd is much better for exact same fare

The food was very disappointing. Tiny portions, especially considering the relatively high prices. The Avocado Salad special was a soggy mess and tasteless. The truffle risotto was completely dry and tasteless (no truffles anywhere near that dish). The avocado dressing leaked all through the bag when we got it, and we spent more time cleaning up than eating. Definitely will not order from them again.

love this place and i'm really picky about italian food - we order from here about once a week. my favorites are the penne a la vodka and penne aurora.

Had the daily special with tilapia. The fish was swimming in a greasy pool of sauce, hence barely edible, and the dessert that came with the special, chocolate cake, was literally 0.5 inch thin. I feel cheated in quality and quantity and sick to boot.

I just ordered for the first time. I ordered two dishes....I found both dishes and the bread that was included to be very average. I did like how they included grated parm cheese without me asking...I think that is smart and more places should do the same.

We have ordered from them multiple times, and everything we have ordered has been excellent so far.

Not. Good. Potatoes were instant. Pasta was undercooked. The veggies were tiny tiny bits of mush. Will not order again.

The delivery person left 3 voicemails within the time it took me to get from my office to the lobby. Seemed a bit excessive and unnecessary.

My $12.00 sandwich was supposed to come with fries and on wheat bread. If you don't have wheat bread than it shouldn't be an option. The sandwich is good but for about $6.00. It's a big sandwich with very little meat!

The dinner entree and salad were excellent! Ricotta cheesecake was not so good, but I have not tried the other desserts, so they may turn out better.
